Castanets is a Go

The Castanets knit-along kits went so well in pre-order that I've been dyeing just to keep up, which means I haven't had time until today to decide what colors I'd like to knit for myself. My hydrangeas and newly cast on Castanets: There are still kits available for pre-order (just between you and me most colors are in stock and ready to ship) in my Etsy shop. I need to order another swath of patterns from Melissa, but I plan to keep the kits listed until July. If you saw the immense collection of colors Happy Knits ordered in Merilon Sock, you'll love what they're getting in Pebble Worsted. I'm about two-thirds finished with the 45 (yes, forty-five, eep!) different colors Tai and Sarah asked for, and I'm happily surprised by how fast each color gets checked off the list when dyeing in batches of 10! The first of this crazy big shipment should see the UPS man around June 10th, but this means I won't be coming up for air social-media-wise much until July. Which leads me to one more quick heads-up: I am taking July off to be with my kiddos. This is the first time I've really taken time off for vacation in six years, and I'm happily anticipating not dyeing anything in Oregon's hottest weather month. I took a month off when I had my second baby, and had to take two months off when we moved last summer, so I've had breaks but never a vacation. We're going to be beach bums for a month. What this means for my Etsy shop is that you have until July 1 to order, and then I'll shut my shop, make sure everything is shipped and then high tail it off to sandier climes. I will return emails intermittently and the Etsy shop will come back up sometime around then end of July, no later than August 1st. Happy knitting, and don't forget to send me links to your Castanets! I really want to see how all those combos knit up.

Castanets Preview

Meeting Melissa Goodale of Stick Chick Knits at Vogue Knitting Live in Seattle was a hoot, and the pattern she's created from my newest yarn, Lilt, was a total smash. Here's a preview of the pattern: Today, pre-orders went up for the Castanets Knitalong kit. I've made several 2 skein options, see here and here, as well as a one skein kit option here. All kits are dyed-to-order and will arrive at your door (assuming there are no shipping hiccups) around June 1st when we begin the KAL. Here are a few more gratuitous pattern previews, because the photographer Mariana Kajlich, Melissa and the surprisingly cooperative Seattle weather did such an amazing job!: Here are a few important details about the Knitalong: - Our Castanets KAL will run from June 1 to August 31. - More information, pictures, chats and generally the super-fun social end of the KAL will be happening via my Ravelry group, Black Trillium Fibres. - The KAL kits include either 1 or 2 skeins of Lilt Sock (85% SW Merino and 15% Mulberry Silk, 405 yds per 100g skein), the printed pattern and a coupon code for your next purchase in my Etsy shop. - Castanets is available exclusively through kit pre-orders until September 2013.
