Sublime - A New Yarn!
Since I began to work with my own mill almost two years ago, I've been in replacement mode getting yarns spun up for me that I'd previously bought from other wholesalers. Now that I have options and a reliable source, there's incredible temptation to ask for "all the things" even though I know there isn't room in the studio for the fantastical things I imagine. Bit by bit, we've gotten in Pebble Sock, Merilon Sock, Pebble Worsted and Lilt Sock, taking time to get a feel for how things communicate from me to the mill rep to the mill. Finally, with much anticipation on my part, I've added a new yarn to my line-up that isn't based on anything I've had before. Introducing Sublime! Specs: 100% Superwash Merino 3 plies 260 yards per 100 gram skein 5-6 sts per inch on US 4-6 needles I've been dyeing and test knitting the yarn, giving myself time to get used to a new name and a different weight. The yarn has the same plies as Pebble Sock & Worsted, just 3 of them rather than the respective 2 and 4, so I toyed with going right to the obvious name - Pebble DK. But after much playing, I find I'd better call it Sublime, because the feel of the knitted fabric from this base has a heavenly drape and super-soft feel that sets it apart. Those of you here in the Pacific Northwest will be able to get a first look at Sublime in two of our big upcoming events: Rose City Yarn Crawl and Vogue Knitting Live. After VKL, I'll be posting colors to my Etsy site as well as investigating dyeing the DK into Gradient Kits, so if you have any particular colors you'd like to see shoot me an email! Also, stay tuned to hear more about where I'll be during RCYC and VKL.
